Who we are

AMBA is a real-time safety and emergency response platform. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights as a user.

What data we collect

Account information When you create a profile on AMBA, we collect your name, phone number, and email address.
Location data AMBA collects your real-time location when you start a trip or trigger an SOS alert. Location access is required for core safety features to function. We do not collect your location in the background when you are not actively using a safety feature.
Audio recordings When you trigger an SOS alert, AMBA automatically records a short audio clip. This recording is shared with your Safe Circle contacts and your connected organization's security team as emergency evidence. Recordings are stored securely and are not used for any other purpose.
Safe Circle contacts We store the contact details of people you add to your Safe Circle solely to send them alerts and trip notifications on your behalf.
Device information We collect basic device data including device type, operating system version, and push notification tokens to deliver alerts reliably.
Usage data We collect anonymized usage data to improve platform performance and user experience.

How we use your data

We use the data we collect to:

  • Deliver SOS alerts and trip notifications to your Safe Circle and connected security team
  • Share your live location during active safety events
  • Provide organization security teams with incident details during emergencies
  • Improve platform performance and reliability
  • Send important service and account notifications

We do not sell your personal data to any third party. We do not use your data for advertising purposes.

Who we share your data with

Your Safe Circle Your name, location, and SOS audio are shared with contacts you have personally added to your Safe Circle when you trigger an alert or start a trip.
Your connected organization If you have connected to an estate, university, hostel, or institution on AMBA, that organization's security team receives your alert details during an active SOS event.
Service providers We work with trusted third-party providers for cloud hosting, push notification delivery, and payment processing. These providers access only the data necessary to perform their service and are bound by confidentiality agreements.
Legal requirements We may disclose your data if required to do so by applicable law or a valid legal process.

Data storage and security

Your data is stored on secure cloud servers. We use industry-standard encryption for data in transit and at rest. Access to personal data is restricted to authorized personnel only.

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal data is removed within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

Your rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your account and personal data
  • Withdraw consent for location or audio access at any time through your device settings

Children's privacy

AMBA is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has created an account on AMBA, contact us immediately at support@ambaap.com and we will remove the account.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page and notify users through the app. Continued use of AMBA after any update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
